Works by Joseph Bassot are rare; rarer still are such examples as this that merit their own article in The Strad magazine*. His work was influenced not only by the great french makers of the day, such as Lupot, but also by Italian makers who took up residence in Paris during this period, such as Vincenzo Panormo. This stunning example of his work, currently the property of a professional musician, is in exceptional condition and will make an ideal instrument for any serious professional.
