Nicolas Lambert was one of the makers belonging to the "Vieux Paris" school. These makers were similar enough in their training, style, and production to have been classified together and often shared strong family and professional ties. They often lived and worked in close proximity to each other. He would have several children who would carry on the family tradition, both in Mirecourt and Paris, making everything from string quartet family instruments to guitars and lutes.
