Known as the “Stradivari of France”, this moniker was well deserved. Lupot was one of the finest violin makers in the world during the earlier part of the 19th century, showing great finesse and skill, and at the time he made this violin, he had access to many of the Cremonese master’s greatest works. This is clearly reflected in the efforts on display with this exceptionally well-preserved example from his most desirable working period. This particular violin has been the property of collectors and concertmasters, showing incredible power, balance, depth, and color.
